DERRICK WARD
Derrick Ward hails from Moreno Valley, CA where he attended Valley View High School. During his high school career, Derrick was named the Sun Belt League MVP for offense, and was a two-time team MVP. Derrick completed his college career at Ottawa University in Kansas with the single season NAIA rushing record with 2,061 yards. Derrick also had 28 touchdowns, and averaged 7.8 yards per carry. Additionally, Derrick had 47 yards on 4 receptions in his short stay at Ottawa.
Derrick was selected in the 7th round by the NY Jets in September of 2004, but one month later signed with the NY Giants. In 2007 Derrick had a breakout season where was second on the team with 602 rushing yards. Derrick is proving to be a weapon for the Giants’ offense. He currently ranks among the NFL elite averaging over 4 yards per carry.
